The Third Angel Sounded - The Art of Nick Kushner

The Pope entering Pandæmonium under the aegis of the Whore of Babylon with canvas pealing back to reveal a glimpse of the Beatific Vision of Hell. One of my most involved and symbolism referential artworks to date with nearly every element, title included, having intentional, multifaceted and deeper intricacies (from The Renaissance to Present). The Pope died April 2 2005, with photos of his corpse and funeral procession surfacing on nationwide front pages two days later on my girlfriend's birthday. To this day I futilely hold that it was my grand birthday gift to her.

Dually an acknowledgement that the lineage of Popes as being nothing more than a continuation of the position of Holy Roman Emperor, with the conversion to Christianity in the Fourth Century AD being for political reasons alone to maintain subjugation of the Empire's growing dissident factions of Christian sects. All present day "Christian" holy days, for example, were placed to coincide with Pagan days of occult celebration (Christmas / The Winter Solstice ; Easter / The Spring Equinox ; All Saint's Day / The Fall Equinox, etc.) to merely, and feignly, appease under a different banner and maintain the devotion of the Romans to Rome.

Though certain Protestants may find this to be a favourable depiction, with all of their fanatical and blindly unstudied beliefs of Catholicism as idolatry and it's place as the instrument of the Devil, I find Protestantism with their newly contrived rituals and complete lack of efficacy of original antiquity, to be far too despicable and plainly dumb to even acknowledge their existence.
